I don’t dislike Artemis, but it’s a mixed bag. Andy Weir is great at science-forward storytelling and building believable off-Earth settings, and Artemis has flashes of that same geeky fun from The Martian. But the tone is uneven—Jazz Bashara, the main character, often comes off as forced and overly snarky, and the plot leans more on caper clichés than real tension or depth.
So: it’s fun if you’re in the mood for light sci-fi with a rebellious lead, but if you’re expecting the heart and charm of The Martian, this one might leave you floating.
The phrase that’s launched a thousand passive-aggressive emails is the next book club selection. In this read we dive deep into the emotionally repressed world of corporate communication, where "circling back" is a power move and "per my last email" is a declaration of war.
